Brocante markt Orléans

French antiques purchases outside the summer season

Browsing French brocante is a great way to find unique and vintage items, no matter the season. While many people shop brocante associated with the summer months, there are opportunities to discover hidden treasures all year round.

Here are some tips for buying French bric-a-brac outside the summer season.

Brocante markets and vide greniers

Although many flea markets take place during the summer, there are also events in the fall and winter. Check online where vide greniers or flea markets are taking place in the region. The vide greniers and flea markets are held all year round.

Antique and second-hand shops

Many antique and second-hand shops in France are open all year round. By visiting these shops, you can discover unique finds and often in a more comfortable environment than in a crowded market. They do not even differ that much in price from the markets.
I also like to search in barns located in the back, where you can browse through the brocante. These barns full of brocante treasures are mainly found in the countryside

Flea markets and thrift stores

Many towns and villages in France hold regular flea markets and have second-hand shops open all year round. This can be a great way to find local treasures.

Buying French brocante outside of the summer season can be a fun and rewarding experience. Whether you are looking for furniture, decorative objects or collectibles , there are always opportunities to make unique finds, no matter the season.

In the meantime I have been back from France for a few weeks now, and although a lot has already been sold, there are still plenty of French treasures to be found in the webshop of
Sofia's Brocante.
