Saturday morning, around 7:30 I am setting up my stall at the Antique Market on De Dreef in Haarlem, in the middle of a colourful spectacle. Stalls full of antique furniture, porcelain vases and all sorts of other curiosities are brought out early in the morning. The first visitors are already strolling curiously between the stalls. The market vendors are still busy setting up their stalls.
Coziness
The scents of late summer and fragrant coffee hang in the air. This is the atmosphere of the cozy Haarlem antique market on the Dreef and is a true paradise for lovers of nostalgia and old treasures .
For years, the Dreef has been the domain of this popular antique market every other Saturday morning during the summer. Every other week, hundreds of visitors come here, looking for special treasures , unique vintage furniture or simply to enjoy the pleasant hustle and bustle. For many Haarlem residents, a visit to the antique market has become a fixed ritual.
Like-minded people
A colorful group of merchants, collectors and curious visitors meander between the numerous stalls. A visitor strolls along the rows and notices a beautiful, shiny gramophone from the 1930s. "I had one of those when I was a child," he tells the seller. They start talking and he tells them enthusiastically about the history of the device. There is a friendly atmosphere among the like-minded people.
To indulge
In addition to all those antique gems, there are also many other fun things to discover. Lovers of retro design can indulge themselves at the stalls full of old radios, lamps and furniture . Collectors stroll along the stalls in search of unique porcelain vases or old coins, to name but one example.
When I pack my things around 5 pm and return home, I feel satisfied. I enjoyed the pleasant hustle and bustle and the nice encounters. The antique market De Dreef is and remains a fantastic way to start the weekend well on Saturday morning!
