Do you want to give the inside of an old, weathered tin or pill box a new look, so that it can be used again? With a few simple steps you can restore the inside and give it a new look and feel according to your taste. This way an old weathered tin or pill box becomes usable and decorative again.
Supplies
- Vintage tin or pill box
- Paint in vintage colours (e.g. ochre, mustard, terracotta)
- Vintage illustrations (cut these from old books or magazines)
- Glue (e.g. Mod Podge)
- Brush or sponge
Getting Started
1. Clean the tin or box thoroughly so that the surface is free of grease. Remove any labels or residue.
2. Choose a nice vintage paint color and apply it to the inside with a brush or sponge. Let it dry well.
3. Cut out vintage illustrations that fit the look you want to create. Think of floral motifs, birds, old maps or drawings.
4. Apply a layer of Mod Podge glue to the inside of the tin/box.
5. Carefully stick the vintage illustrations on the desired places. Work from bottom to top and iron well.
6. Let everything dry thoroughly. If necessary, you can apply a layer of Mod Podge over it for extra protection.
